Thailand: west coast low season – May 1 to October 31

Phuket low seasonThere are always lot of concerns about the feasibility of having holidays on the Andaman coast during the low season, officially from May 1st to October 31st .
April, May and June are probably the hottest months of the year, with short showers and night time rains which are often refreshing, while July and August are a bit uncertain. September and October are usually the rainiest months of the year, sometime November too. But the real danger might come from the sea. Many rip currents are experienced during the low season in Phuket, Khao Lak, Krabi and along all the west coast. It is very important to pay attention to the red flag issued by lifeguards on the beach, which means: stay out of the water or close to the shore, even if you are a great swimmer.
It is always a good idea to choose an accommodation with a nice swimming pool.
But low season attracts also lot of surfers looking for fun and for the right wave. Phuket host famous surf contests on Kata beach, Kalim, beach and Kamala beach.
In order to attract more business during the low season, most resorts and hotels offer strong discount and special offers, plus lot of sport events and family friendly entertainments, such as the Summer Family Festival at Laguna Phuket resorts, each one offering lot of benefits built around your children.
Getting wet is always possible in this period, but it's not a big issue. It's only water and the tropical heat dry clothes quickly.
Things to do during rainy days:
long spa treatments are the best way to spend an afternoon and enjoy the pleasure of body and mind;
indoor sports, such as fitness, tennis, squash and yoga;
Thai cooking class, fun also for children;
great kids club and playgrounds by choosing the right property;
shopping in several malls around Thailand;
Bowling and cinemas;
Museums and cultural covered sites.
Don't worry, it cannot rain forever, the sun will shine again soon!
