Family Friendly in Koh Samui
The perfect week away for the family: a 4 star resort with all the facilities that will satisfy both kids and grown ups; huge pools and golden sand beaches for happy days of relax; and a couple of days out to explore beautiful Koh Samui and snorkel the amazing seabeds that bless its archipelago with countless colorful fishes and corals.
In 1971 two backpackers stumbled upon Koh Samui, a paradise-like island - home to mainly coconut farmers and fishermen - fringed by white-sand beaches with palms blowing in the wind and clear green seas sparkling in the sunlight. Much has changed since then: Koh Samui has become one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in Thailand, and the spa capital of the region. But something has remained as it was: the blessed atmosphere of tropical living typical of the "coconut island". Nowadays Koh Samui offers tourist countless choices both in terms of entertainment and relax: you can spend the night sipping on tropical cocktails in a stylish bar and be on a Robinson Crusoe-like beach the day after; you get on a boat and do some extraordinary snorkelling in neighbouring Koh Tao or get to some serious beach party in Koh Phangan; or you can treat yourself to some 5 star relax in one of the fantastic health retreats of the island. At your arrival at Koh Samui our chauffeur will take you to the Bandara, one of our favourite 4 star, family-friendly, beach-front properties in Koh Samui.
Bandara is a lovely 4 star beach resort situated in attractive yet quietly charming Bophut Beach, with easy access to the Fisherman's Village, the Big Buddha, local markets, shopping areas and the bustle of Chaweng. Designed around the theme of tropical serenity and atmosphere, the property features a delightful lush landscape and emphasize the water element to createa sense of calm and serenity for all guests. Facilities in the hotel include: full range of therapy treatments by Bandara Spa; traditional Thai cuisine, delectable fresh sea food and superb international cuisine; a 40 meters long Main Pool matched by a Beach Pooland a Children' s Pool; and a selection of daily activities to entertain everyone. We would like to suggest you staying in a Deluxe Room with Twin Queen beds for the comfort of all the family. This room type offers 44.5 sqm, a private balcony and bathrooms with separate shower and bathtub. Other amenities include: air-con, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, DVD/CD/Stereo system; fridge with fully-stocked mini bar, hair dryer, Personal in room safety deposit box; coffee & tea making facilities; pillow menu.
This will be a day full of wonders and adventure - grab your camera and get ready for an exciting jungle safari. Our itinerary will take you to see the Grandfather & Grandmother Rocks - huge rocks that have been shaped over millions of years by wind and water to resemble human reproductive organs. Sip on fresh, sweet coconuts that have been harvested by monkeys before stopping by Wat Khunaram to see Samui's most sacred relic, the mummified Luong Por Daeng, a highly respected and beloved monk who was renown for his meditation practice. From Wat Khunaram proceed to explore the jungle, some part of which can be accessed only by elephants. Elephant-trek on the way to the waterfall, enjoying the scenery and the local wildlife along the way. Dip into the cool waters of Namuang Waterfalls - Namuang II in particular is Koh Samui's most beautiful, with stunning rock formations and verdant surroundings bathed in a brilliant natural light. Relaxed and refreshed, board a 4x4 vehicle to reach the breathtaking viewpoint at Yaod Khao at 650 meters above sea level. After a delicious Thai meal wander through the Magical Garden, located in the hills of Samui and reachable only through the jungle, rivers and mountains by a 4X4 off road vehicles. The Garden was built in 1976 by a local fruit farmer, Nim Thongsuk and is full of statues of animals, gods and demons. Before heading back to your hotel, visit the renown Big Buddha Temple, home to the 12 meter tall golden image of Buddha. A fantastic day for the whole family!
Board a high speed catamaran to visit Koh Tao - known also as turtle island for its shape - and Ko Nangyuan, its little sister island that consists of three smaller islands connected together by a beautiful sandbank. Together, these islands form three bays with crystal-clear water and no strong current, white sandy beaches, a variety of colourful fishes and fascinating coral reefs that offer optimal conditions for snorkelling and diving. The high-speed catamaran is ideal when travelling with children: almost as fast as a speedboat, yet more comfortable, these modern, state-of-the-art vessels feature an air-conditioned VIP cabin with snack bar, sun deck and toilet facilities. Visit the Mango Bay, one of the most spectacular beaches of Ko Tao island, rich of colourful fishes and soft and hard corals. The snorkelling equipment will be provided for you, as well as a life jacket so you can float around looking at the beautiful fishes and corals care-free. Have a delicious buffet lunch before heading to explore Ko Nangyuan beaches and amazing marine life. There are many famous snorkelling locations here, all within a 5 minutes walk, nice hike opportunities to the viewpoint where you can enjoy the spectacular views over the beautiful blue bays and nearby Koh Tao (a real "Kodak-moment"), and of course perfect sandy beaches to relax on. The snorkelling sites are clearly marked and closed off for all boats, so you can completely engulf yourself in the experience without a worry in the world!
